Evaluation of lip sync practical

Lip-synching is so essential in making a successful music video and this task that we were set was to try and get us to understand why it is essential. For a professional looking music video there are many factors and conventions that need to be followed in order to achieve this. The majority of music videos out there today include someone whether it be and actor or the artist lip synch to the song, mainly to make sure the audience know they are watching a music video and not just a random production with music over the top. What we found out from performing this task is that you need to be willing and confident in front of the camera, something that none of us really were. If you are not confident the lip synching can be weak with words missing and you can also smile or just look uncomfortable which gives the product and amateur look to it. Although this task was mainly set out to practice and understand the importance of lip-synching, there was much more that we learnt from this task. One of the things i learnt was that you need to make the video engaging. It's alright if you get the lip synching spot on but if you don't use quick cuts and a variety of different shots then it will make it boring for the audience as well as hard to edit with the limited shots. The task therefore gave me a real insight on the effort that has to be put into a music video if you want it to be successful and look like a professional production.
