Before going out with a camera and film we needed to start from the bottom which is of course coming up with an original idea for our production. We spent 1 hour with a camera filming us as we brainstormed different ideas on narrative, lighting, miss-en-scene, location and target audience. The video above is a compressed version of what the camera filmed, sped up 500x to be shortened down to just over 3 minutes. The ideas that we gathered from this exercise are extremely helpful in our decision to what will be going in our production. The overall consensus from the group was that the location should interchange between a a studio and a house party, the narrative should be light hearted in accordance with the up beat song that we have chosen, and lighting should be bright to keep that light hearted approach but not too vibrant as the video could then come across as a teenage pop video which is not what we were aiming for. Discussing the target audience during the exercise was extremely important as each song has a very distinct audience that has to be research heavily in order for the production to become successful. The exercise overall has allowed us to come up with our own individual treatment in which i will discuss in a different post.
